Career Profile
Clarke started his career as a Clearance Diver in the Royal Australian Navy before moving into the offshore oil and gas industry as a free-lance deep sea commercial diver. During a 20-year career working in hazardous environments, Clarke gained a passion for the prevention of workplace incidents and injuries.
Clarke gained a role as a Workplace Inspector at WorkSafe Victoria starting a 13-year career with the regulator, which included over 8 years as part of the Executive Team managing large projects.
At WorkSafe one of Clarke’s main roles was facilitating workshops and training enterprises in their obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other WorkSafe health and safety initiatives.
Clarke has an ability to engage audiences at all levels from “shop floor” workers through to safety professionals and Company Directors and has been described by his audiences as energetic, knowledgeable and structured. Clarke was also responsible for managing the Safety Body of Knowledge which is now used by training institutions as guidance for curriculum development.
In 2013 Clarke joined Your Safety Partners as a consultant and trainer to assist a growing demand for face to face training delivery in the corporate sector.
Clarke has a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Health and Safety and extensive experience in senior management including people leadership, strategic planning, project management and community consultation.
Clarke is a Chartered Professional Member of the Safety Institute of Australia and the Chair of the RMIT Occupational Health and Safety Program Advisory Committee.
